My Thanksgiving Table.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I have been busy making client meal plans and Thanksgiving menu’s for them and all of their loved one’s. I find myself being asked “Well, what do you make for Thanksgiving?” The truth is that I try to avoid cooking all together on Thanksgiving Day, as my goal is so sit around and catch up with family and not even worry about the food on the table.

However… I am known for hosting a large “Friendsgiving” ever year. I split it up the list of things needed amongst the group so everyone is responsible for something.

So, what I am about to show you is my ACTUAL list of who is bringing what.. I just removed their names and called them “Friend 1 and Friend 2” instead.

1. Wine- Friend #1
2. Beer - Friend #2
3. Gluten Free Rolls from Bread Srsly - Friend #3
4. Salad - Me :)
5. Green Bean Casserole- Friend #4
6. Mashed Potatoes- Friend #5
7. Creamed Corn- Friend #5
8. Roasted Sweet Potato’s and Brussel Sprouts - Me :)
10. Apple Pie from Plant - Friend #3
11. Vegan Ice Cream- Friend #6
12. Another Dessert - Friend #7
13. Chocolate Mouse - Friend #8
14. Surprise us - Friend #9-10
15. Creative Games - Friend #11

As you can see, wine and beer were at the top of our list ;)

But in all seriousness, this is what I would choose to have on my Thanksgiving Table. My goal was to serve the healthy items (salad and roasted veggies) and put others in charge of bringing the more “traditional” items. I do that purely so I can ensure that there ARE healthy items for me to consume, and then I can nibble at the rest. Even though everything will be completely plant-based, I still want to limit my consumption of heavily processed foods simply because the food-coma/ inflammation hangover is never worth it for me.

I always find it funny when people dread Thanksgiving, as if they are REQUIRED to eat three plates of garbage and feel puffy the next day.

So, I challenge you to let go of that thought. Make sure you drink plenty of water and eat your veggies in additional to all of the sugar :) If you aren’t the one hosting, offer to bring a salad or a large vegetable dish to the meal so that you can ensure you have something to eat!

Happy Holidays, friends!

Emma
